Loire yesterday, Paris today

Want a Loire Valley château license plate for your American car?
They sell them in Amboise, along with a lot of other souvenirs.

I'm driving up to Paris with Evelyn and her friends today. We'll do some sightseeing along the way — Orléans and Fontainebleau are on our route. Then I'll spend about 24 hours with my friend CHM, including lunch in a Japanese restaurant tomorrow with Claude of Blogging in Paris.

Want to live in a cave? This one's in Amboise.

Yesterday we drove a loop extending about 25 miles west, north, and east of Saint-Aignan to see some of the big Loire Valley châteaux — Chenonceau, Amboise, Chaumont-sur-Loire, Blois, and Chambord. The weather was sunny with puffy clouds in a blue sky and a fresh breeze. It really feels like fall now.

We did some driving yesterday, but we did a lot of walking too.

I won't be able to post in Paris tomorrow. CHM and I are going to get out early to ride the bus over to the Arc de Triomphe. He wants to take a picture of a column there at the base of the arch where the name of one of his ancestors, a general in the Napoleonic Wars, is carved.

  4. Cheers to CHM! I know you always have good visits with him. Impressive about his ancestor's name on the plaque. I'm envious of people who can trace that far back.

Enjoy Evelyn and her friends, as well.

The picture of the feet is funny. Reminds me of a 1960s-era album cover!
